Called to Write by Edna Ellison and Linda Gilden considers writing to be a calling from God, and teaches that writers are "on mission" with what they write. The book helps readers place their desire and gift for writing squarely in the center of God's call on their life.
Young and ambitious lawyer, Mitch McDeer discovers that the too-good-to-be-true firm that he is working for is actually a front for the mafia. Mitch must make a choice to stick with the "good life" or risk it all to help the FBI bring down the firm and the mafia.
Out of Solitude by Henri Nouwen uses Mark 1:32-39, Mark 6:32-34, and John 16:16-22 as a platform for meditations on Jesus' use of solitude in His ministry.
This classic book by Machen covers several topics that are fundamental to Christianity. He overlays those topics upon the worrisome threat of liberalism that was plaguing the Church in his day.
Peace Like a River is the best book I've read in quite a while. That's a BIG compliment, but Leif Enger has delivered a wonderfully crafted tale of a 1930's midwestern family's quest to find the 11-year-old narrator's fugitive brother.
